Recent Fair Work Commission Decision – Aged Care Workers
The Fair Work Commission has made a recent decision to increase the average wage of aged care workers by 23%. The increase applies to direct care employees working in aged care. These employees include:
Personal care workers (PCWs) and recreation/lifestyle activities officers covered by the Aged Care Award.
Nursing assistants, enrolled nurses, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners working in aged care under the Nurses Award.
Home care workers in aged care covered by the SCHADS Award.
The most senior food services employee (levels 4-7) at a particular aged care facility or site, as per the Aged Card Aware
The consequence of this announcement may require a further review of existing contracts of employment and may provide an opportunity to more discreetly address the inherent requirements associated with phone usage at the same time.
